what is 2.2 Build VZW?

i've had a Droid 1 for a month and i know my way around it, but i'm a noob with the Droid 2. i want to root, but right now i'm not sure what 2.2 Build VZW is and what methods work on it. if anyone can shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated.

2.2.0 is verizon wireless' (VZW) build number. Don't confuse that with android 2.2 or froyo.

Since the 2.2.0 (VZW) we've had an update to 2.3.2.0 VZW and if you flash the right ROM you can also get an android update to 2.2.1.
Yes Z4root works for the D2. If you get koush's bootstrap (and keep the 2.3.2.0 SBF file handy) you can flash any ROM made for the D2, (and even some DX ROMs with a patch file) make and restore backups. Or any of the other built in functions.

Remember one thing...the D2 is not a D1. The locked bootloader changes everything so read up on the D2' ways.
