*.rar files as I know is a compressed file much like a zip file. Just need an extraction app for that. Not looked to see if there are any apps to extract rar files

This.

A .RAR file isn't something that can be watched. You can try Androzip to extract them, but it may have issues with large RAR files.

I'd suggest transferring it to your computer to extract it then moving the result back to your droid.

Unrar pro is available in the market. No need to transfer the file to your pc

XBMC can play video files compressed inside RAR files (on pc), get androzip to decompress rars on phone and play with vplayer...both free (androzip is ad-supported). I am unsure if androzip can handle multi-part rar archives.

7zip handles RAR archives, is opensource, and works great as a dual pane file manager to boot.

Thanks for the info, cheaper than $29 for WinRAR.

UPDATE: When I went to 7-Zip - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com there were posts about a Trojan in the program. I dunno.

...its opensource, whoever said there is a trojan is a winrar/winzip troll
