What's the best backup option that will cover everything (apps, app data, etc. -- not just contacts)?

Titanium Backup looks attractive, but I thought I'd see if anyone else has any suggestions...

Does your phone have to be rooted to get the benefits of Titanium Backup?

My vote is for Handy Backup for Android, it allows you to back up your phone contacts, messages, logs and other data right away.
