I recently rooted by phone and installed the new gingerbread onto my phone, however after it was done I had a syncing problem so I had to do a hard reset and I lost all my apps :(

Another user who failed to make a back-up. Tisk tisk!
It happens. Hopefully you learn from the experience and make sure you have a back up next time BEFORE doing any modding.

i thought this was a known issue without wiping data/cach. i for one, ALWAYS wipe when changing ROM's. just make sure i always get the best experience. once i log in, all my apps re-download and i am up an running in a half an hour if i am on wifi. then just restoring app data and home screen backups and i am right at the point i left off.
