Before ditching it altogether hoping someone may have a suggestion to get my phone to turn completely OFF so I can let it finish drying out.

Dropped in toilet. No lectures please...

Was at work, so no access to hairdryer etc. It was instantly removed and dried as best as I can since you can't take it apart (or at least I couldn't find a way to do it). at first it was on and seemed to have the water out of it. But within a few the buttons quit working. Everyone suggested sitting in rice to draw out the moisture while it dried out. Got some from the cafeteria at work. Unfortunately I couldn't turn it off and it started pulling up the boot menu (but again the buttons don't work so couldn't do anything with the menu). I noticed it was getting warm (due to it trying to boot or do something I assume) and so I pulled it from the rice and checked on it and now it's in fastboot flash mode menu, first the battery was ok (below is what was on the screen) but now running down and said Low and not programmable:

AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure)
To return to normal mode - first press power key to power down.

Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 0

    Battery OK
    OK to program
    Transfer Mode:
    USB not connected

If I pushed the power button, it quick closed the screen, but then came back on within a second or two...

Now it just has a flash across the screen when I hit the power button and goes blank.

At this point I think the battery just has to die, let it dry and see if I can get it back with the power cord tomorrow after time for drying?

Any suggestions besides not dropping it in the toilet are most welcome.

    Thanks.
    M

Well, unfortunately the first thing you are supposed to do is power off, second remove the battery but with the RAZR being a non-removable battery you're stuck there. Have you tried to hold both the power and volume down until it shuts off, to see of it will respond and reboot? If so, once booted, press the power button till the shut down menu appears and power it off. You do want to put it into something that will draw out the moisture, and rice is a good choice.

Even if you can't get it to shut down you definitely want to put out in the rice. You should leave it in there for at least 24 hours but longer is better. If once you take it out it's dead, charge completely while powered off. This will take 3-6 hours depending on how deep it discharges.

Let us know how things progress.

My old iPhone 3gs survived being inadvertently thrown into the Colorado river by my sister once I let it sit in the bag of rice for about a day. No removeable battery but it worked fine after that! Good luck!
