I've searched everywhere and can't figure out how to get the wallpaper to fit on the entire screen. It always makes me crop it smaller. I've tried using imagess that are the size of the entire screen as well, nothing works.

When you select an image to use as a wallpaper there is an orange box that shows up around the image..... drag the corners of the box to to expand the cropped area. This way you can get the whole image on your background.

Actually I do that but it doesn't allow me to pull it over whole image it limits me to a smaller box, it is frustrating.

Sounds like the image you want to use is too big.

It will only let you crop to an area equal to the size of 960x854, since it spans across the equivalent of 2 home screens (even though there are 3) 480 wide x 854 tall * 2 = 960x854.

My images look crummy because the orientation changes the cropping. Is there a way to use dif pics for dif orientations?

How about different images for different orientations?

No, you can only use 1 wallpaper for everything.

There isnt even an app to fi xthis? Because I am being frustrated because some of my favorite pictures do not translate into backgrounds well- Peoples faces are cut off from the chin up in horizontal mode or you cant see everyone in vertical mode, etc. I wish it would let me do the cropping for vertical vs horizontal modes.

No I am referring to how it crops AFTER I have chosen a square crop of my image. Lets say I have a picture of a person laying down, I want horizontal mode to show their whole body, but if I crop them for their whole body to show then when in vertical mode I only see their mid body (which would be the 'center' of the whole body shot). Well obviously I would prefer to see their face for vertical mode, but their face is to one side of the shot, so I have to center the shot on their face, but that keeps horizontal mode from looking good, so basically it forces me to choose between horizontal or vertical mode which do I want to actually look good?

To give a picture to the problem I am having, heres a screenshot of my horizontal and vertical desktops. This is just as I described above except in this case its a person standing up not laying down, see how it only looks good in vertical? In horizontal all you see is their middle, not their face.

You could always edit the image to suit your needs. Here's something I did real quick.
