I am actually not surprised. Look at what happen at the ces...you had companies rushing to get their phones out there now and they are probably pushing to make sure they are released by the time iphone is released. I really think it is gonna happen.... why else would att who normally caters to apple now start putting out good android devices.

They would do that because they see that android devices sell, before the droid 1, android had a very iffy name to it at best. I'm sure that AT&T wants to get in on that action now. Android has definitely made a name for itself and it's shown that it isn't going to just go away. Android has a very big market share, and if they continued to only offer iphone and maybe 1 or 2 lower end androids then they could be loosing out on alot of money.

Why did ATT switch ALL their advertising to Windowsphone7 over the holidays?
    Hmmm. Makes one wonder.

I tend to be with pc on this one. There are a lot of circumstances that seem to be coming around at the same time. I know everyone has seen the reports about Apple doing a vacation freeze for their employees, but didn't I also remember someone else saying the same thing was happening over the same period for Verizon employees? Like the exact same time? If so, that's one huge coincidence. Or not. ;)

Ok so I spoke to them first as a customer inquiring about their black book and taking names for pre-sales of the iPhone. His response "For what phone?" "The iPhone" "The iPad you mean?" "No the iPhone" : ) he then went on to say that they don't have such a thing there and never heard it. I questioned him again. "I'm positive sir"

I then told him I write for a very popular Android forum : ) and that there was a rumor on our forum that their store was taking peoples names for a pre/pre-sale on the iPhone. For the purpose of brevity "That gentlemen must have been misinformed by a sales associate or misunderstood. The only thing we deal with from Apple is their iPad. I can assure you that sir."

    Thats it.

also i bet they are just under order to be hush and they are denying that i let the cat out of the bag.

    Look what i just found:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg's Consumer Electronics Show keynote Thursday was a snoozathon, but the company sent an electric jolt through the tech world on Friday with a bright-red invitation to a press event on Tuesday.
Scheduled for early January 11 -- 1/11/11 at 11 a.m., to be precise -- in New York City, the event looks likely to be Verizon's long-awaited, widely leaked but never officially announced unveiling of a Verizon iPhone. Numerous media outlets, including Fortune, have confirmed with sources that the device would come to Verizon's network in early 2011, but so far Apple (AAPL, Fortune 500) and Verizon (VZ, Fortune 500) have stayed mum about their launch plans and timing.

Verizon called me a couple of weeks back to get my wife to use her NE2 upgrade. Told the rep she was waiting for the iphone. The rep stated that she would put my wife on a list to be called when the iPhone is to be released. Whatever that's worth.

An excellent question. I wonder if another Verizon store would do the same.

To satisfy the customer. Then they put the black binder away and laugh when you walk out the door.
It keeps quesitons at bay and keeps their current customers happy.

Also it gives them reason to call you for solicitation. You've given them your number so they can call you when the iPhone doesn't come and try to get you to buy a new verizon phone. In essence you've given them permission to call you for cold calls.

    Hope you enjoy telemarketers.

How exactly did you manage that since there is no option on the upgrade page and Verizon has said they won't have this set up until the 3rd of February? What page are you looking at?

Yes I had done that, but nothing was up about a preorder. Did that shoot you to another page?
