VZW has locked the 850/1900 MHz GSM/UMTS bands on the D2 Global...can this be fixed?

EDIT: Thread title is incorrect; turns out the lock is only on US GSM carriers, via a lock on MCC 310. 850/1900 GSM/UMTS are confirmed to work outside the USA.

Any developers got any ideas on a workaround?

Wow, that's really good to know. I was almost going to get one. That is truly unacceptable.

If you are a customer in good standing (I believe at least three months of paid bills) you can call Verizon Global Support and they will give you the unlock code for your phone so you can use it with other carrier SIM cards other than the Verizon supplied Vodaphone card. I know several people who use their BB Storm's on AT&T and T-Mobile, so the same should work with the D2 Global.

Thanks but this is a separate issue from unlocking the SIM
