Resolution Type : VM BOX BUILT

Resolution : Since customer mailbox did not currently have any messages, I deleted and rebuilt the mailbox.

Please have customer call *86 and complete mailbox setup, then have customer:

a. Clear cache/data for Voice Mail app (i.e. go to Settings - Apps - menu > Show system - then scroll down to and select Voice Mail - tap Force stop, then Clear cache, then Clear data).

b. Turn off phone's Wi-Fi and ensure Mobile data (under Settings - Data usage) is on (and 'Limit mobile data usage' is off and background data is not restricted).

c. Power cycle device.

d. Verify device establishes a working 3G or 4G data connection (i.e. can customer browse the web or access the Play Store?). This is required. VVM is not supported over Wi-Fi or 1x.

e. Retry Voice Mail app.

If these steps are followed and issue still persists, factory reset device and retest.

So, does that mean you are at the last step? FDR time?

Yep. Hence the "Sigh...."
Are we ever going to have an efficient backup like iPhones have?

I figured that's what the sigh meant. Just confirming. To answer your question...should we? How many times have we heard, "I did a FDR and the problem came right back", because the Backup My Data option was selected? I hate setting everything up again too, but sometimes it's good to start fresh and clean. Sometimes not though.

I've never had an app restore data. Not once.
That never works.
At least if I had an iTunes like backup I could FDR. Test it without installing anything. Still not working? Restore.
I can think of 3 different ways having that option would help.
I'm sure others can think of more. You'll never convince me we don't need it.
Not to even mention....I just FDR'ed a few weeks before M for that broken update issue I had. Twice in 2 months? Shoot me....

I'm back. VVM works. This is, so far, the only app that restored data.

I use GV for Voice Mail. I opened the dialer. Goto Settings. Voice Mail service > Google Voice. No auto type forwarding. No extra programming. This has worked on my S3, S5 and now S7.

You aren't on Verizon.
So I did the FDR. Visual VM works. So what did I do today? Setup GV for VM. Lol

Must be a Sammy thing. No VM option on my phone. I had to manually forward.

Can I not change my VM greeting from the phone?

Could be a Sammy thing. It's easily accessed through the dialer / settings. Finding this setting in normal settings is no fun.

I'm not using GV as my phone number, though.
