Need help with widgets

How do I open the new widgets that I am downloading from the PlayStore? I go to Widgets under Apps and hold it down and drag to area with plenty of room on home page. Then what???? Nothing happens. I miss my cute clock widgets. I had a Droid 2 prior to Razr Maxx and did not have any problems like this.

Hmmm...it really should be that simple... When you drag to the home screen does it even have an outline of the widget or show one as a preview?

If anything, I would try a restart after installing, though it shouldn't be necessary.
