It appears that Verizon has really outdone itself with nation-wide 4G LTE coverage. According to this press release, they have already reached more than half the U.S. Population. Here's a chunk of the press release:

I'm working to clarify for you, I have a couple friends who run VZW stores in Hampton Roads. I'll let you know what they say.

Expanded coverage for DC area! I hope that means better coverage at my house so that when I get my 4G phone, it won't switch between 3G and 4G constantly.

And as for south east VA, that's interesting. I lived down there for several years and recently moved up to Dc. I'm surprised that area didn't get 4G before because of the people and military but it's strange that Verizon has 4G up when they didn't show it going up for anywhere in VA besides DC area in 2011. I hope it stays up down there when I go visit in a couple months.

I am thinking it is in testing because I talked to my friend who runs a store in Newport News and it was up temporarily.

Interesting. Looks like Hampton Roads maybe getting it beginning of 2012. I used to live in Yorktown and was just there this past weekend so 4G there is sounding good to me.

Late October? Wow Verizon really is working fast and meeting their schedule for getting up 4G everywhere. Now all they need to do is go down on their prices :p.

    4G availability <> accessibility
    4G @ AB airport <> 4G in Austin
Grossly misleading statements like what that map and statements about 1/2 population having 4G available to them = epic fail

Ahh that sucks. They must have either turned it off or just be testing the area around the historic triangle.

My guess is that's a testing area. So I at least get it at work.

Nice, I used to work in Altoona, PA! Can't wait until my town gets it, seeing how it's a decent-sized college town, I figure it's just a matter of time.
