I searched, but couldn't find anything.

Is there a way to remove the "Verizon Wireless" text in the drop down notification bar?

alright, im going out on a limb here but my guess is its in the AndroidManifest.xml file, which is where you can change the Verizon Wireless on the Homescreen, ill ask some devs i know if they can change it,

alright, you have to edit the eri.xml file in framework-res.apk/res/xml/ folder, you need a hex editor i think, i havent done this successfully but i know people who have, it wont get rid of the box but it will make it so the text isnt there, ill see if i can get rid of that box all together, but thatll take some more work, this is just a quick fix

I went ahead and gave this mod a try. Bad move on my part. After I edited the XML file, my phone would only boot to the M screen. I am doing a complete restore now to get the phone back, then I'll try and figure out what I did wrong.

Edit....Got the phone back to my restore point last night. YAY!

Attempt #2 got me another bunch of nothing but a boot to the M. Time to restore once more, and try again dangit. I must be doing something wrong editing that XML.

Attempt #3 got me nothing as well. I guess I'm just not a hex editing kind of guy. :D

I got mine working but it took some tinkering. Be careful how you edit the hex, make sure your "zeros" are where they need to be, I had to edit a few of my spaces manually.
Packaging up the apk is another thing, the compression has to be right. Going as ".zip" should give you the correct 67%, but make sure you don't have any "subfolders."

Hey, everybody has an opinion so I'm not knocking you guys who don't like the Verizon thing but to me this is just so minor that it's not worth the time to go hacking at it. But hey it's your phone, do what you wish.:)
