1. You want that $100.00 in your pocket or an Amazon Fire TV don't you? Well here's the deal. With our new updated look we are in desperate need of an updated logo. The 'old' one has certainly served us well, but it's time. Find all the details here: bit.ly/1q0k6Wa

Today verizon reps told me that I need watch my data because if I go over 5 gigs they'll suspend my service and they accused me of illegal tethering because they haven't seen someone use so much data! So your unlimited is NOT unlimited! And for a rommer like me I use alot of data to download roms and such. so be careful you guys!

Most I have ever used was 9 gigs with a ton of Netflix streaming. I haven't had Verizon scare me off yet.

How did the conversation start? Did you call Verizon about something else and they mentioned it to you, or did you get a text/call from them?

I got a letter in the mail after I went over 2 months in a row. They said anything over 5 g is considered high usage and they were going to reduce my speed. They say its bc people are hogging the network. Im one a family plan with 5 lines and all would be reduced.

That's ridiculous... especially now that they are offering unlimited tethering for 4G phones!

I think this policy is part of the new shift to the tiered system. I read on the Verizon site yesterday that there is a 5 Gig cap, and that is certainly on par with the practises of other providers with tiered data. =/

And im like look woman this is just like your broadband scheme a few years back. Its "unlimited" but really its 5 gigs. And so yeah its very annoying because I like to stream netflix too

Basically says if u get an unlimited plan after feb 2011 , they can throttle your speeds if u go over the normal data usage. They are claiming 95% use less then 2g a month. I got this letter after going over 5 g two months in a row. I called and they said that its a warning . I called back again tonight and they said it never gets to the point of cutting somebody back unless they use excessive amounts repeatedly.

I think they are aiming for people that tether. They say you get caught tethering illegally, they will cancel your service

Here's the official statement. The last paragraph states that if you're in the top 5% of data users, they'll throttle you for the current billing cycle, and the next billing cycle.

Notice, it was last updated on July 7; the day unlimited data plans were terminated. Therefore, those of us who signed up before 7/7/11 might think that we've got unlimited usage. However, I spoke with a supervisor that stated "our data plans can be changed at any time. They are not like calling plans, which cannot be changed without the customer agreeing." That is why if you have a calling plan, you never really have to change it.

I learned this the hard way, when they changed my data plan while I'm in Canada from "$65 for Unlimited" to "$100 for 200 MB". I had no legal course of action to cancel my plan.

I'm not sure where you got the 'February' cutoff, but I think the updated 'July 7' takes precedence.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, though. I really thought that I had Unlimlted 4G LTE ($30) and Unlimited HotSpot (add'l $30) because I signed up on July 5. I have until tomorrow to return my LG Revolution, and I just might.
