    droid forum?

ok... I have the Droid Eris.... don't know if anyone can answer my question since all I seem to see are motorola based questions... (personally, i like the eris better than the moto. hubby has the moto I have the eris... Mine is more user friendly, can get to things faster and easier than he can)
ANYWAY,.... I have a question, recently, I have been getting an error on my msgs, and nothing else. It's random, and doesn't seem to matter if I have 10 msgs or 100... but I get this msg,"The application Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again," I don't have any option but force close, and when I do, any messages prior to this and any I recieve during this are all deleted. it's mostly just annoying, but any help would certainly be appreciated!!!!!

oh hey! there's already an update available??? since when? thought it wasn't out yet!!

I just tested mine, both the native browser and the XScope browers, on websites that are very, very graphic intense and they are smooth and seamless - no jerky/choppiness.

Um, yeah. Same here. I didn't see a reason to comment since no problems here. I loaded a webcomic screen to test again, magnified it, and whipped it around every which way in the default browser. Smooth as can be. On a really long page I can whip it from the top and watch it glide to the bottom.

Maybe it's other apps causing issues? I'm pretty selective about what I install. I'm not casting aspersions, just trying to figure out what might be different.

Write down all your apps and uninstall all of them and go back and then check your browser... there is a widget or something interfering..... Hopefully your not running an Antivirus app.....if so, toss it... you don't need it until at least one person on the planet shows up with a virus on the Droid!!!

Hi, I'm sure this topic has already been brought up before, but all my txt messages were just randomly deleted. I got a txt late last night and said "ill just read it in the morning". Then I woke up to find all my txts deleted. No force closes or errors and I am using handcent.

I know there's probably nothing I can do to get the txts back, but I'm wondering if motorola or verizon has actually acknowledged this as a real problem and if it is going to get fixed???

Reason I'm wondering this is because I dont want a phone that continues to do this, and if they aren't even awknowledging the problem to get it fixed, i want to consider getting a different phone.

PS I've never had this problem with verizon, has to be the new Droid itself.

Okay, just started having this issue:

Stupidly told Droid to sync my entire GMail account, and ran out of memory, so I purged the onboard GMail cache and reduced my sync to 5 days.

However, even with background sync running, I wasn't getting new messages. So I disabled sync, pulled the battery, restarted, and enabled sync.

Now, instead of not synching, I'm getting a constant synch icon up in the notification display, and Google has locked down my GMail account for unusual activity.

Should I just try a restore to Factory and start over?

    Thx,
    -M

    Wow, 82 pages.
I started reading this a FEW beers and a pack of smokes ago. After a few pages I was wanting to answer some questions but figured they would be answered in a page or two. After a few more pages I had some questions. Now I have no idea what questions I might have had but was smart enough to copy one post.

    Viper,

Are you aware of any information regarding what's happening with former Alltel customers who got the Droid like myself? Anyone who is on an Alltel plan doesn't actually see VZW towers, we only get the Alltel ones (network name is "Unknown" in the phone status screen, there's no network name displayed on the unlock screen, PRL number is different from "real" VZW Droids etc) Visual voicemail also doesn't work for us and there's a gigantic thread in the tech forum here about GPS reception not working for many Alltel users, particularly in the south. (it does work for me here in AZ, but I'm worried about it potentially not working on a trip.)

My understanding is that what used to be the Alltel tower network is separate from the actual VZW network and this is why we're seeing all these issues - the different PRL number causes the phone to pick Alltel towers even if there's a closer/better actual VZW one. My roommate has a full signal on his VZW (non-Droid) phone, and I get 1 or 2 bars inside the house, presumably because I'm actually on an Alltel tower.

Do you know of any way to get the VZW PRL so that my phone actually uses the VZW towers? I send a bill to Verizon every month and this really irks me that I can't actually use the towers.

    Thanks!
    Ryan

Ryan, I am sorry, I won't be much help on the Alltel questions. Alltel isn't available in all areas and I am not in an area with legacy Alltel customers. Maybe there is something you can do to get a "Hybrid PRL" which Verizon can send to your phone, but you have to call up tech and talk to them and explain what's going on. From my understanding, it's not a quick fix, but they should be able to help you out with it.

I noticed I do not have the Verizon logo on my home page where some have said they do. I am in Eastern NC and have no problem with GPS. I really have no problems to speak of with my Droid. Just 1 or 2 minor hickups in the last month or so I have had it.

Oh, the question, I was lead to believe the #228 thing was to update my ALTELL to use Verizon towers. I was told to do it every week or two. I thought it was to keep the phone updated while the transistion occured. If I am not being updated to Verizon PRLs, why bother to do the #228 thing????

If this didn't quite make sense, blame it on the HOURS I spent reading this complete thread from start to finish, while quenching my thirst, for knowledge also. (get it, thirst? double meaning there):icon_ devil:
