If your like me then you already believe that Verizon has the best wireless coverage of any carrier. That doesn't mean that Verizon won't continue to improve their service... not just in coverage area but also network speed. They've been dropping little hints all year long about the LTE network they are building and what cities it might be in, etc... but now they've gone and put up a full fledged teaser page on their site. The page is light on actual meat and potatoes but it's a start.

Check it out here: Verizon Wireless

Just spoke with our companies Verizon rep and she was mentioning that the LTE will go live Q4 of this year, most likely November, and that broadband cards and usb modems will be the first devices to be on the LTE. Phones will likely be on the network Q2 or Q3 of 2011. Can't wait!

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the terms Q2 or Q3 so does that mean our current devices will upgrade to the 4G?

LTE will not work with any of the phones currently available from Verizon.

That sucks but hopefully there will be upgrades to keep us happy. Hookbill, have you personally heard or read of any new updates for the os for the droid 2? I remember reading a thread about it yesterday. But it was related to the problems with flash security problems

Correct. Upgrades will have to happen all the way around in order to be on the LTE. Current 3G devices will run on the 3G network only.

Sorry for the confusion, I was thinking in calendar year terms. She said the spring or summer of 2011.

It does... I was referring to the fact that Verizon NEVER meets it's scheduling goals.

As far as I know, the droid x will not do 4G. Also as far as I know, 4G phones will require a sim card.

According to what Verizon CTO stated in the article no it will not at first because they don't have a voice option yet for 4G it will just be data so when you use voice it'll switch over to 3G or 1X. 2011 was when I guess they would have a voice capability over 4G.

On the phone side I keep reading articles about November and I just read one about a possible new Droid in nov. with the New gingerbread OS on it so. Maybe a coincidence? or maybe it isnt a there will be a 4G droid in November? I like to keep High hopes!:)

When I find the articles I will provide them just not sure where I found them.

I can't wait for 4g, but I hope Verizon continues to expand their 3g coverage in my area. AT&T still has the best coverage around my area.
