Earlier today we discussed the new OTA update rolling out to the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge on Verizon. The update brings a few new features and lots of bug fixes. The only thing that really excites me about this update is the "fix" for the broken accelerometer. This ends up being more of a workaround. The update makes the phone use sensors other than the accelerometer for auto rotate. It is still kind of frustrating to think that you have a $700 device with a defective component. If it really bothers you it may be a good idea to still make a warranty claim.

Other than the few features, and bug fixes this OTA will also patch root for now at least. The kernel has been updated with the OTA as well. The creator of the Ping Pong method is having to update the root on a device by device, firmware by firmware basis. He will also have to tackle this OTA to make Ping Pong root compatible with the update. For now if you wish to remain rooted you will want to skip the update and wait for Ping Pong to be updated.
