Sounds to me as if the rep was just shocked, and talking BS thinking they know it all. I see very few people that go over a Gig. I saw 31 gigs usage a few weeks ago. My advice then, and to you: don't upgrade. Seems you figured out the system. 2 questions, though. 1) what the heck are you doing to use that much. 2) why not connect to wifi for faster browsing? Personally, I'm connected all the time, and use roughly 20% of a gig, granted I'm hooked to wifi as much as possible. To answer your question; I get cussed/cursed out/called everything, but a human being at least once a day. Not once has it been a customer getting the ax for too much usage. New one for me.

Personally, I don't have unlimited internet at home. 500MB/day. I have unlimited data on my Verizon phone. So, why WOULD I connect to WiFi all the time at home? Especially since I have higher ping and lag rates via my satellite (at $100/month) and faster bulk data transfer rates than I do on my phone.

Also, Verizon doesn't "lose" money on iPhone sales. They make it up in data fees. If you want to blame anyone, blame Verizon who is currently slurping in cash hand-over-fist with the shared plans AND are developing a mobile video service to gulp even MORE data/money.

Verizon CFO: 'Unlimited' data is just a word ? The Register

Verizon plans bandwidth-gobbling mobile video service ? The Register

Check the dates and you'll see how far-reaching this money grab has been. Also, this is from 2007 when the NYS AG slammed Verizon for limiting its unlimited plan at 5GB. http://www.ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/press-releases/archived/Verizon Wireless AOD.pdf

Can you see how LONG Verizon's been trying to kill the unlimited plans?

Makes sense to me why you wouldn't hook into wifi, in that case. I don't have unlimited data, now. (Long boring story) When I did have unlimited I still hooked up to wifi because the browsing was faster on Fios. But yeah, if you have it, and it's the best you have, use it.

Not the case for me either, unfortunately. Only Internet I can get where I live is either satellite internet (astronomically expensive and very limited data usage) or DSL at 3 MB down and 0.5 up. My 4G blows that away. I don't even use my WI-FI on my Nexus any more at home. Just leave it on 4G.

I wonder how hard it would be if it is your only source of media? I've read that some use their Verizon data instead of cable and home internet. I could see my family using that much if my phone was my TV and internet source.

I tether my phone to my tv... i then stream netflix in HD. about 7gb per movie.... and just so you know that data plan that verizon has to try to make up for the loss on the iphone doesnt make up for it... since apple requires %50 of the data plan monthly per customer. the reason for this is if your on an iphone your voicemail goes through them and imessage. so yes all cell phone carriers lose money on the iphone.

First things first....Verizon loses Zero on the iPhone sale. It's roughly $180 to build and less than $10 chinese labor to do the final assembly. So you can debunk the theory on $$$ lost on the sale of iPhones.

I understand that you use immense amounts of data. Remember to read the fine print of your "data" usage. This has NOTHING to do with your unlimited package. (fyi-- I also pay full retail to keep my unlimited for peace of mind and also I use around 6-8 GB monthly myself) Anyway, your cellular connection is not meant to be a "home based" internet source. It for mobile data.

I still have unlimited. My point is that I would keep it for much longer if not for your abuse. It is a mobile phone, not a home internet connection. So yes I believe "someone" (or more accurately a group of someones) gave up my unlimited. You, I believe, are part of that group. Yes I could pay full retail at my next upgrade. My point is I wouldn't have to if it wasn't for folks like you. So while I pay for my other internet connections, I have to also pay more for my phone connection in the future, to continue to provide for your "free" abuse. But I also believe that your unlimited will come to an end, and you will cry a river while the rest of us say I told you so

Well first things first... What it costs apple to build an Iphone has nothing to do with what apple charges Verizon... It costs carriers Over $500 per Iphone they order. Plus Apple demands 50% of the data plan. Why do you think Apple has become the most profitable company in history. Isnt it intresting how promotions started ending when the iphone was launched? ie.. New Any 2 credits, the end of unlimited data and the inroduction of the $30 upgrade fee? If you look at the history of verizon and their profitablity statements to shareholders you will notice a sharp decline in company profits when the iphone was introduced. This is not a conincidence... Also your argument that my data plan is ment for "mobile Data" is invalid.. I pay $30 a month for "unlimited" tethering.. Therefore I am premited by agreement to share my data connection with my home computers. Maybe you educate yourself a litte more before you run wreckless at the keyboard....
