Yes, it was confirmed that the "original" contract is five years, but believed to have been renegotiated when AT&T began subsidizing it. What those new terms are is anyones guess.

yeah that's what i said...the original contract length is 5 years...no one knows what the contract is now, or when it actually became effective...at distribution or at development. so 2011 is not out of the question.

IMHO the author of that article's contention that only Geeks really like android based phones is fatally flawed. He is taking his own opinion as a fact.

I predict that iPhone will in fact do well on Verizon, but at the expense of AT&T, not at the expense of Android. Android will continue to flourish.

I agree that the iphone started it all, android devices are now driving smartphone innovation. Apple can't compete with the dozens of other companies that are investing in Android devices.

Maybe I'm one of the few on these forums but I can't wait for the Iphone to come. I have had my Droid1 for coming up on a year and it's rooted and romd and etc but its an iphone and just I have always loved its elegance.

But I seriously would like someone to convince me not to switch. I really would like that, keep in mind I'm very pleased with my phone and find no flaws with it except for a few minor things.

What would be funny is if some other black device from Apple was hitting Verizon. Some super secret phone that nobody has even heard about. : )

More like just plain fun. Nothing stirs up the tech world more than when Apple manages to pop a rabbit out of its hat. Succeed or fail, pundits, bloggers, and analysts would keep us all amused for months.

But I doubt it's going to happen. I'm sure they are working on something, but they almost never make the mistake of eclipsing a current success with a new product, and the iPad hasn't finished making it's mark.

I really don't understand all this. I don't believe everyone will go out and buy an older technology. Is not the Iphone falling behind all the time? There are too many choices
with android, and surprise! CES just now says we're not static. Iphone is still #4.
maybe it's a fashion thing, but i just can't see it now..(we are talking about the future?)

Lol I think its funny when people think iphone on verizon will be some kind of doom to android. I think the new android platform and devices will do just fine defending themselves, they will lose a number of customers just because people like the apple wagon but I don't think its something to get squeemish about :p
