Video: Verizon Ad Shows Rooted Droid? | Droid Life: A Motorola Droid Blog

Anyone else see the newest Verizon ad which features a mom and her daughter in the mall? Cute one right? Did you happen to notice the quick view of the mom’s Motorola Droid running what appears to be a custom ROM? At the 16 second mark, she pulls up her Droid which definitely has a black notification bar with white clock and 3G notifier. Looks like we had a sneaky rooted user slip one by the big wigs at Big Red. Awesome.

Whoops didn't see it here before. Ah well if I didn't then others didn't either. It must become widely known!

Yep simulated, in vzw's training material for the skype app coming soon to the market, it shows a screen shot of the apk with htc desire or incredible notification bar.

That's because the Droid was born to be rooted. :icon_ banana:

It is possible that the developers are using rooted droids for a reason I doubt it is just because they happened to be using a Verizon Employee's phone and it slipped pass the big wigs. The phones that they use for a commercial are not going to be someones phone that gets carried around. It would have nicks, scratches etc. I'm sure the phone is rooted for a reason.

Is it rooted because the DROID is not shown as compatible for the family locator feature? Or as stated above simulated. In any case it's funny they chose a phone not noted as compatible for the option.
