Yes, it is possible. But it has to be a high class quality card or it will not work correctly. And, you have to format the card in your phone first so back up anything on it first. Also, if you chose to do this you can't use that card in any other device, like your laptop.

I'm very tempted. I keep running out of room on the internal mem. and the card has only 3 gb on it.

Is there no way to double up the internal card?

YourYour SD card would get formatted during the process of making it internal storage, so do remember to backup your data.

Here are the steps:
1. Put the SD card inside your Android phone and wait for it to get detected.
2. Open Settings.
3. Go to the Storage section.
4. Tap the name of your SD card.
5. Tap the three vertical dots on the top right corner of the screen.
6. Tap Storage Settings.
7. Choose format as internal option.
8. On next screen, you’ll have the final warnong. Tap Erase & Format.
9. You will be notified if Android finds that your SD card is slow. Tap OK to continue.
10. You can start the data migration process now or do it a later stage.
11. Tap Done to finish the process.

But keep in mind, it’s not hot swappable like the portable SD cards. So, don’t remove it without using the Eject option.
