I have seen some issues recently with not being able to hear people on there Galaxy Nexus when plugged into the car auxiliary cable. Its a simple fix, click your home page and select phone as if to make a call. Click the menu, the 3 dots, and go to settings. Then turn off TTY mode. Your car auxiliary cable and phone should function properly now.
