I needed to get a logcat file for some problems i'm having with a rom. I installed everything that was necessary to get the logcat, got the logcat and sent it off.

My question now is how do I get my pc to recognize my phone so that it will prompt me to mount the sd card?

um reboot your phone and computer and try it again? adb wouldn't really have anything to do with preventing your computer from recognizing your sdcard so i would just say reboot both your computer and device and try again let me know how it goes.

You can also mount using adb if you wanted that would go like this

    To Mount Sdcard
    adb shell
    echo /dev/block/mmcblk0 > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file

Unmount Sdcard (still in adb shell)
    echo > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file
