So, a theoretical question... A nandroid isn't capable of updating the baseband, but an update.zip is, correct? If that is the case, once the official update.zip is available, could the update.zip be modified so that only the baseband portion of it is applied? That way we could get to the new baseband without the hassle of unrooting, re-rooting and all that?

Well, that is what we are waiting to find out. We'll see what can be done with the update.zip once we actually get it.

I imagine a way will be found. But at least we can already use the existing sbf and get the radio if we want it (I have it on mine).

The RF part of a phone is called a radio, not to be confused with an FM radio or anything.
The radio firmware will effect a lot - call quality, reception, etc.

KK thats what i though. Guess i've just had my hopes up that a finalized FM app would be released... i guess it would be a whole lot more than an app but youget what i mean.
