Is there an advantage to selecting the update.zip over the Nandroid backup when updating Bugless Beast to different version (ie v 0.7 to v.09)?

It all depends on who wrote the update.zip script and how well it's written....

Update.zip is a function and not a process.... the processes are hidden inside of it in scripts that tell it what to do.

nandroid is a program with specific backup/restore scripts....

so in comparing scripts..... it all depends on what they are and how they are written.

Ok interesting, but if I want to update from Pete BB v .7 to v.9. would the update.zip file delete all my settings/app?

yea update is the way to go if youre just "updating" to a newer ROM.

nandroid is for switching so nothing is left from the old one to cause problems

in ur case, id do the update - not to mention its a lot quicker IMO

yes update is faster and saves your data. it makes it nice not to have to reset everything back to the way you want it again.

I used a nandroid backup to switch from Droidmod to Bugless Beast .8. When I updated to .9, I just used an update.

That's how I view the two. Nandroid for major rom switches, update for updates to the same rom.
