    Hello All,

I have a rooted DROIDX, 2.3.3 and I am receiving a message that update 4.5.621.en.US is available.

I know from previous experience because I'm rooted the update won't take.

I also have ROM Manager v5.0.0.6, Superuser and Droid X Bootstrapper installed.

What do I need to do to upgrade to the latest update and still retain my rooted situation?

    Thank you!

The latest update has not been rooted yet. So at this point all you can do is avoid it. To stop getting notifications you can freeze the updater apk which is located in system. Then to be safe clear cache which will get rid of anything that has been downloaded already.

Okay thanks for that! Can you be a bit more specific on how to "freeze" the updater apk. And clearing cache would that be a folder whose contents I remove?

    Thank you.

Well you would need an app from the market to freeze it or just disable it. What you can do is download ROM Browser from the market, go into system/app, and rename updater.apk (may be something like systemupdater.apk, not sure since it's been a while) to updater.apk.bak. And clearing cache you can do from recovery.

Using super manager I am able to "force stop" updater. Now I'm guessing when I reboot you are suggesting I clear the cache?

Yes I would do that. It is not necessary but that is where any updates would download too, that way you know they are all gone.

Okay I did that and everything is back to what it was before. Any word on when this new update will be rooted and what it brings with -- like what are the changes, etc.?

    Thank you for your help!
