I have rooted my D1 using Z4Root and my phone bug me all day long to do the latest system update. I have tried the unroot and update option but the update will not install. What can I do to install this update?

Z4root keeps the stock recovery so you should be able to accept the update. I have done so successfully iirc.

I had to revert a friends droid and used an outdated 2.2 sbf. I rooted with z4root then applied the system update when prompted.

Sent from my Droid using DroidForums App

Then more details, please. Exactly what method are you using? Exactly which file is it? Exactly where and what message(s) are you getting indicating failure.

    Thanks

I have been attempting to just use the OTA update when prompted. The error is as follows.

    e/error in/cache/beda60e851bb.signed-voles-FRG83D from FRG22D bebe60e8.zip
    Installation aborted

Sounds like the file got corrupted during the download. You can find that file in my collection linked below. Rename it update.zip, put it on your sdcard, then boot into recovery and select "apply update.zip" and you should be fine.

    good luck

I did as you instructed with both files you have as FG83 and they both give me a E.signature verification error

Is your recovery image "stock"? Power off your phone, then power up by holding the power button + X until the white Motorola "M" shows up. What does the recovery screen look like? If it's a triangle with an exclamation point in it with a Droid lying next to it, it's still stock. If not, you're running a custom recovery and the OTA will not install.

If your recovery still IS stock, to get out of it, press the UP VOLUME button + camera button to unlock the menu, and then reboot by clicking "Reboot" by using the camera button

You're attempting to upgrade to 83D, correct? What version do you have now?

Okay, then the current 83D update should simply flash on.

Where on the SD card are you putting the file after you rename it update.zip?

Move it back one step to the root of the SD card and try again. In other words, move it out of the download folder and put it where you see the download folder. This is the root of the SD card. :)
