I don't know if you'll get QuickOffice back, but if you follow these steps and start by going back to FRG22D, it should all work.

Actually, I guess QuickOffice does typically come with the stock /system... so probably so!

    Why wouldn't the update install?

Droid. The first Droid. The best Droid. My Droid. And boy do I hate stock.

Sometimes the updates will not install if there are some of the 'stock' apps missing. We had that problem WAY back in the early days, and that is why it was suggested to rename the .apk to .bak instead of just removing them. That way if a failure happened, renaming bak to .apk allowed the update to install.

I was thinking that about failing to replace a custom recovery image, too.

Oh. Then I am drunk! That's good to know! :) . Thing is, this all turns out to be moot. The micro-USB connector on my Droid is all screwed up, and I can't connect it to my computer. Long story, but it's all bent out of shape, and most power supplies won't work with it. It'll be another 2 months before I can upgrade at a discounted price, and since I'd rather remain rooted than receive the latest OTA update, I'll just put up with that nagging reminder. What a pain. :icon_evil:
