Ok, answering my own question for others that might be curious:

My problem was using Astro to view the contents of the backup directory. All I saw was a file named 'nandroid'. I was expecting to see a file with 'md5' somewhere in the filename and didn't see it.

The problem was that Astro by default does not show the file extensions. When I changed Astro to show the file extensions, I saw that the 'nandroid' file was actually 'nandroid.md5'!!

All is well with Rom Manager backups! I can now go upgrade to 9.0!! :icon_ banana:

This I know thank you, but, I am not a 100% convinced it is just activation time issue. I have never had to wait before with any other ROM install. And have done complete wipes before. I think it may be related to ud9.0 and the baseband not agreeing with one another.

can someone please explain the difference in these?

Ok, I should have asked this a couple updates back, but what exactly does this do and which one should I choose?

-free50mb (adjust native system task manager to keep 50mb of RAM free)
-free75mb (adjust native system task manager to keep 75mb of RAM free)
-free100mb (adjust native system task manager to keep 100mb of RAM free)

BTW, I'm back to normal now. Got everything working and just testing to see if there are any issues. I didn't have to do a wipe so far.

    LED problems.

Not positive but think you only see the LED blink when you are in standby. So if your screen is on it doesn't blink.

There is a free app called Blink. Lets you set LED notifications for SMS/MMS/Incoming Call/Missed Call

I think you are correct, mine does not when it is in standy, the wakes up shows missed call from whatever number in notification bar and goes back into standby with no LED. I guess i will try that app but doesnt seem right!!!

Mine is showing the same behavior. LEDs work for email/handscent/voicemail and other apps just not missed call.

Has it been removed in the base? or is it a function of UD9/baseband?

Blackdroid would kick Chuck Norris' ass...

v9 is by far the best ROM out..."insanely smooth" is exactly right. Tons of options. Can't wait to see what you do with the new base.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO CUSTOMIZE APP DRAWER HANDLE? Ive seen peoples app drawer handle have their name written on them. If anyone has a link to a tutorial or something please post!! thanks
