Can someone help me out? Ive had the free and paid version of ROM Manager since Ultimate Droid V8.1.1 (as that is what i am currently on), everytime I try to just update from 8.1.1 to 8.6.3 everything downloads fine, but when i boot into recovery, it formats system and cache (to be expected) but then says error (and displays the path that the zip file is in my sd card) and says Status 7. Why cant i get it to simply update?

have you tried downloading the update.zip again? How big is it? It could easily be a corrupted install...

Why not let ROM Manager DL it for you (via WiFi it is not that long, and saves you the step of having to copy it over to the folder on the SDCard)....

I have, i let Rom Manager do its thing (it says in my notification bar my Rom has an update), so i click that, I pick my options, click ok, it downloads everything, then messes up in Recovery, Ive tried this twice now.

OK, when it asks you to make the backup you let it and when it asks to wipe data and cache you do?

Ya ive backed up, but didnt wipe data and cache because im already on Ultimate Droid 8.1.1 and didnt think i needed to.

Heres exactly what rom manager says while in recovery

    Assert Failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img"."boot")
    E: Error in /sdcard/clockworkmod/download/www.regalgs.net/droid/UltimateDroidv8/UltimateDroid_8.6.3.zip
    (Status 7)
    Installation aborted
    ClockworkMod Recovery v1.7.8.5

Very well written, thank you very much. This was even helpful to me (figuring out what ROM Manager was, since I hadn't heard of it or messed with it before) even though I'm not quite a noob ;)

That is a weird one. Not sure where to go from here if you have already tried downloading .... wait. Did you clear the cache and then try DLing it again?

Mine was doing that yesterday bro, MAKE SURE you ALWAYS check to see if the ROM Manager application has any updates in the Market. ALWAYS

What method are you using? ROM Manager or the update.zip?

Couple of questions before I do this since my first Droid died yesterday (thank god for the 30 day policy) 1. Do I have to root my Droid before I do the ROM Manager update to the newest Ultimate Droid? 2. Is there anything thing special I should do since I am running 2.0.1 right now? I saw some people were having issues updating cause of the 2.0.1. Thanks guys for the help.
