I have searched the forums and found nothing for the Droid 3. Here is what I get:
su binary outdated.
New version of su binary found. Update now?

Downloading manifest... okay
parsing manifest... okay
latest version= 3.0.3.2
Checking installed version= 2.3.1-ef
clicked update
Fixing database... okay
Checking for busybox... okay
checking current install path... /system/xbin/su
Downloading new binary... okay
Checking md5sum... okay
Gaining root access... okay
Remounting /system as rw... okay
Copying su to /system... fail

It then asks if i want to retry. Repeats steps and the result is the same.
I found a suggestion that says to remove the su from the /system/bin folder and then update. tried it but after i removed the file it would not recognize that i needed to update it.
Any suddestions would be great.
Thanks

I have tried this as well. It doesn't detect anything to fix. Try force fixing it and comes back the same.

Titanium backup is up to date as well as superuser. Not running any ROMs.

Updated busy box by going to play store and look up busy box installer by Stephen... Installer the latest version and see if that helps...

under su setting under prompt set it to ask..then try to update again..some times if you set it to auto allow the update fails
and yes allways a good thing to keep your busybox updated

Hello,
I am having this same problem and followed all of the above
to no avail. I am new to root and this is my very first post, I apologize in
advance if I become an irritant with so many questions lol

Solution for Incredible 2?

Hey everyone--I'm having the exact same problem, except with my Incredible 2 (got 99% through the root, but SuperUser/SuperSU is having trouble gaining root access. I tried creating a new thread for it, but no luck.

I tried installing the BusyBox app, but it won't even load, saying "There was a problem opening a shell with root access. This is either being caused by superuser/supersu or by a device that is inproperly rooted" when I try.

It suggested downloading RootChecker to see if I'm actually rooted, and I did that as well, but it won't load either.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
