For the Droid 1 you want the Sholes hardware.

CM7 isn't out, and if it is it's not for the Droid. Last I heard the CM7 code was functional, mostly, barely, and it had no optimizations.

On running 6.1.2 now. What difference is that from 6.1.2?

CM 7? Well, for starters, It's just basic Gingerbread. No optimizations and all the problems every other D1 Gingerbread ROM is having, including reduced Market functionality.

The latest nightly is only two days removed from 6.1.2 and has the rotary lockscreen if you're interested. :)

The purpose of this thread was to prevent people from continuing to install 6.1 RCs and whatnot because they didn't know where to look to get the latest version. When the CM 7 nightlies start dropping they'll drop on the repository so it's a good idea to go check every few days.

No wipe needed between minor update -- 6.0 to 6.1, for example. I flashed the latest nightly over my 6.1.2 install without any problems. All you'll need to do is reinstall any custom kernel you might have been running if you were running one. :)

Haha true. But, now I can't use it. It took me FOREVER to finally find them when I was though.

This is probably not the best place to post this, but I didn't want to start a new thread. I've been using CM 6.1.2 for a few days, and it's great. In fact, I haven't even switched kernels. The stock kernel runs great for me, and I don't overclock past 800MHz anyways. I'm wondering if anyone knows what this stock kernel is (2.6.32.9-cm-stk mtwebster), and if the kernel alone would ever be available in an update.zip?

Normally I'd say start a thread, but why do you want the stock kernel as an update.zip? :)

I've had the same speed and stability out of Nightly 226 (the last one), and the next update to the ROM will be Gingerbread -- though that's probably a couple weeks off at the earliest.

I'm just curious who developed the kernel, but I'm guessing it's CM? Though, I have seen mtwebster's name before. I guess I like seeing Chevy, P3, or Slayher in the kernel name. Ha. It would just be a nice thing to have saved as a backup kernel, or one to use on other ROMs.

I know you can get them from somewhere. Contact the user Prime here on DF and ask where he found his.

The CM kernel is VERY stock, but it does have some optimizations. :)

Even if you go to CM's site, you have to know where and what to look for. Thanks for posting this.

Here is the link to webster's file of the 6.1 kernel. I think it is the same as 6.1.2

Stock kernel download - CyanogenMod Forum

You gotta go easy on the old Fur guy, as this CM forum stuff is kinda in flux here. They have their official site (per my link), but the best CM stuff, imho, happens here. Looks like we are getting a transition of name from Koush to Cyanogen here now which should help the traffic, posts and overall help.

Awesome. Having another site was one of the reasons I never really used Cyanogen in the past. I find it helpful when all of the ROM, kernel, and theme links are on DroidForums. Thanks again, Craig!

Thanks, Craig. Yeah, I don't have the time (check the post count and do the math -- I've only had one 200 post day) to chase down every lead like I'd want. :) Too busy keeping phones running. :D

Even without overclocking I've noticed that the stock kernel is as smooth and fast as I need it to be. And talk about battery life! Whatever the new devs did, the tweaks are awesome. I just hope it holds true with Gingerbread -- which when it becomes stable enough to be flashing regularly onto our phones will be available at the links above. :D

It's all good. I made a commitment to myself to try and stay with CM, as I like the fact that they will likley stay with the D1, and are large enough to roll resources (read bodies) into development as folks move on.. I am gonna have my phone for a while more, so it makes sense. And I owe the folks here who helped me way back when. I never asked what is root, but I clearly remember asking what good is it:) Learn, and pass it on.
