So I want to but I dnt want to mess up my droid or get caught doing it if my phone breaks. I'm not all sure what rooting is imma noob at that but I wanna know what it does to my phone other than super privledges to my d2. Can u explain to me what I can do to my phone cuz I'm happy with stock but I want to make my phone better so not so much lag and change things and I might sound dumb but again I have no clue what rooting does for me and my droid. If you could explain it would be greatly appreciated. =)

Follow this link to learn a little about what "root" means: THIS IS WHAT ROOT MEANS (stop asking) : Benefits and Risks associated with rooting

There are some fundamental differences between rooting a D1 and a D2. The D2 does NOT have an unlocked bootloader like the D1, so recovery is a little trickier at times. So the risks are a *little* higher, but with some reading and care, it can be a very pleasant thing.

I rooted my D2 within hours of having it, but I had my D1 rooted for months previous, so I'd had practice. We try our best to provide great support if you get yourself into a pickle, but in the end you're absolutely responsible for what you do to your phone.

Like anything, there are benefits and risks. I hope you will consider the potentials of both and make an informed decision.

...and now for the biassed part... rooting RULES :)

Why is it better and what are major things not to do?
