My Droid fails to start up after downloading the 2.2 update. I took it to a local Verizon and they said that I have to replace the phone through warranty.

I'm perfectly fine with replacing my phone. But the one thing that I want to keep is my texts. Are the texts stored on the memory card or the built-in memory? And if it is stored in the built-in, is there any way to transfer them to the new phone, even though my current phone won't turn on?

The text uses virtually no space compared to the song itself. So it will be the same, as far as you or anyone else could tell. Presonally, I have found Apple's song estimations to be very accurate.

As for the capacity, it will be a bit less when formatted, but you will still have plenty of room for songs (and you will still be able to fit the amount of songs on it that they say, if you have average songs).
