Text Notifications Question

I'm a new Motorola DROID user. I did a search for this question but didn't find anything. Probably using the wrong keywords.

I was wondering how you keep the notifications for texts pending until I acknowledge them.

The problem I'm having is, when I get a text, i hardly ever hear the notification noise the first time, so I will check my phone every few hours and sometime I will find a text that came in, that I never heard. On my old phone the text message notification will keep playing every 2 min until you read it.

Thoughts? Can I do this on the Motorola DROID?

I like the app "Missed Call" from the marketplace for this, but others have had good luck with "Handcent" (which also does reminder notifications) as well.

All about personal preference and experiences I guess. You could try them both, they're both free apps on the marketplace.

Missed Call will handle ALL of your notifications if you want.

Handcent SMS is a replacement SMS application to replace the stock Messaging application. TO avoid double notifications if using Missed Call uncheck the Notifications in your SMS application.
