    Hi Everyone,

Will any text forwarding app work while the phone is down or do you need your carrier to provide service? Thanks for any tips.:D

Text forwarding apps would run on the phone, so they couldn't forward the texts if the phone was down. There are methods to communicate with your cellular communications carrier, which can be done from a PC, but I believe they are provided by the cellular carrier. You can access Google number texts through the web so you could forward your main cellphone number to a Google number and gain access that way.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Depends on the app. Some apps like Hangouts & Whatsapp can use WiFi

I understood him to be speaking of the regular texting through his own phone number. I also understood when he said phone "down" to mean not functioning.

I may have been wrong and so those suggestions, as well as other texting apps I know too could be used as an alternative to the texting that a cellular carrier provides.
