Yep this is why i kept the Palm 755P for so long, loved sitting in the park with the Macbook babysitting and browsing at will.
Good to know we have another device able to circumvent corporate greed.
I hope Bluetooth tethering is in place!?
July 15 baby, july 15! Not Linux naive either the eeePC was a great teacher.
The Wifi-tether application has no silly restrictions, doesn't require windoze, nor the low-gain bluetooth.
It provides a fully-functional WiFi hotspot. For free.
Of course you have to be rooted.
Can this wifi-tether app work in frf84b released on 6/29/10?
I assume so because it's mostly FRF57. It works great on FRF57.
I used EasyTetherLite on my 1st gen Moto Droid - set up on my Win7 32-bit AA1 netbook. Runs pretty nicely.
I only plan to use tether when there is no wifi available.
tethering with a rooted D1
Fairly noob with a dumb question.
If I'm running P.E. 4.1 and tether via USB to my laptop, is Verizon giong to find out and charge me? Is the program that is installed in P.E. 4.1 set up to keep Verizon from finding out?
Wow, read more, post less you do! :welcome:
Tethering is in violation of VZW's Terms of Service, but people have been doing it for years. Thos that get caught have abused the heck out of it (streaming movies, playing games, bit torrents, etc.) and then they get a huge bill and/or cut off. Fly low and you _should_ be OK.
