Tether Speed Increase?

I'm rooted (BB) and OC (1.0Mhz). I just installed Barnacle (props to the developer!). Is there anyway to tweak out my laptop and/or Droid to help speed up the internet connection?
I'm posting tethered, btw.

Have you done any speed tests from the droid 'untethered' ? You are going to be limited to whatever throughput you are getting via 3G

Yeah, I get 5 or so untethered on my Droid, but my laptop only gets .7 or so tethered via 3g. Is this normal?
