Tasker Action Sleep Mode

I'm searching for help creating a Tasker action that will silence my X with exceptions for sms messages and a couple of contacts (elderly parents). I've looked through the application but I'm not sure where to start. Would I be creating a Sleep Mode Widget that I could activate before going to bed? Thanks

Here's what I would do, and actually what I do have on my phone. Set an event for an incoming call from your parents and have a media response (play music) and assign an MP3. Do the same thing for your SMS (find a short .mp3 sound effect online that makes sense). Then just set your ringer to silent but make sure you have your media volume up high. You can of course set Tasker to perform this for you during the time you are usually asleep.
