Talk App

I am sorry if this is posted somewhere but I couldn't find it. I recently purchased the Motorola Droid and one of the pre-installed apps is called Talk. It seems like it is google's IM service but i have tried to invite a friend who also has a droid and she has done the same but we can't seem to get it to work. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get this to work?

What can't you get to work. Add the gmail account for which your friend syncs their droid with. Done.

We did that and it sends an email to our gmail accounts. When we try to follow the link in the email it says Argh bad link. We have tried several times and without fail cannot get it to work.
