    Just download the Android SDK, unzip it go to tools folder and open the ddms. Be sure to have java installed on your computer and also on your phone go to Settings>Applications>Development>and check USB Debugging.

    Also, if you download and apply the home replacement app "Home++" from the Market, it has an feature you can enable to use the camera button to snap a screen shot. Saved to the SD card, viewable in the gallery.
    IMO that is the easiest way.

    Yeah but it only takes the pictures of the Homes Screen, dxTop also does the same, but if you want to take screenshots of an app you can't do it like that, is either using the sdk or rooting the Droid and installing drocap2 from the Market

    Root your droid and use DropCap2. Works like a charm.

    It's drocap2, not dropcap2...

    I am very weary of rooting the droid because I cannot afford another one...Have their been successful webpages built for this stuff? I am a super noob when it comes to phone programming...I just do web design.

    I have seen a couple of pages that just involve changing a file name and pushing a couple of buttons but I am not sure the whole "legality" issue. Would I be doing something super illegal? Im just slightly worried about it is all...

    Anyways, any help would be great. I cant wait to be taking screen shots.

    I installed Home++ but cant figure out how to take screen shots...I think ill just wait for replys on how safe it is to root the Droid.

    I am actually building a complete and utter NOOB guide to rooting your Droid. Expect it to be up in a little bit.

    Click the link in my signature for the website.

    For Home++:

    Go to Preferences->Graphics->Turn on Screenshot

    Then, you just hit the gold camera button to take a screenshot.

    I am reading some of your site right now...I am wondering, are people having problems bricking their phone AFTER they successfully root it? Like they are doing something stupid then? I thought it was just possible to brick it if you dont root your phone correctly. I wish there was a way around the bricked phone or whatever...I guess then it wouldnt be considered "bricked"
