So I'm in San Antonio doing some work and I spot a T mobile corporate store. So I decided to go and demo the N1 they told me you can only get one through google. I asked "are the stores not going to have demos for people to view" he said No I asked "are your employees allowed to buy one for them selves to show people" he said No then he told me we will "fire" any employee that brings one of those phones into our store. he said this is coming from T mobile corporate. So I then went to 4 other T mobile stores and got the same answer every time. So basically there is no way to demo this supposedly great new product.

Has anyone else had this experience?

That's what I said. Tomorrow I am going to call T mobile corporate and ask what the deal is. The funny thing is one of the employees leaned down and pointed his but out like he was going to take a swat and said we feel like we are taking it in the @$$

they told me they had already turned away 10 people at that store today.

If you want me to get a 2-year contract & this new device, you'd better damn well have one for me to play with! That's how I fell in love with the Droid, picked one up in a Verizon store, put it down when I realized I had been standing in the same place for over 15mins! :rofl3:

They can't legally fire them for bringing in their personal phone into the store, but they can however fire them if they have a "rule" in place saying they're not allowed to demo it to customers.

I think this is a very stupid move because I personally would never buy a phone that I can't try out first. I hope Verizon will actually carry some in-store so I can check it out before I decide if I want to buy it or not.

Why would TMobile want to do this? Is it because the N1 is sold strictly through google right now? Or is it becuase if you can play with it in thier store you will find out how poor thier network performance is and go buy a Droid

How do you expect people to be swayed by a device? They need to see it in the flesh, physically hold it. Hype and news reports only go so far. You're not gonna win over an iPhone if someone can actually go hold and play with an iPhone.
