So I just installed this ROM yesterday and it was working just fine. When I woke up this morning, I noticed my phone was prompting me to update my Android system. How do I get rid of this notification?

R u using bb4?? BB5 is based on frg22d so your system wouldn't search for updates. What you're saying happened a lot on bb4 and Pete posted a fix on his website.

Let me do a little digging. This is the first time I have ever heard of it happening on bb5.

Hmmm. Once I updated to FRG01B, I installed Simply Stunning. I have been using SS until yesterday when I decided to install BBv5

Please don't take offense with what I'm about to ask...
Did u follow the install instructions exactly? U wiped data and cache, you let the phone boot up, u didn't touch the phone at all until after it reboot itself? The system stayed on frg01b. It didn't wipe. The phone basically themed bb5 instead of loading the rom. What does it say under attempt info? Does it say frg22d?

I'm getting the same answer from a lot of friends and a dev. They say wipe and reinstall. However I know u r trying to avoid that so I sent a gtalk to Pete to see if he has an idea. In the meantime, run backup tool and backup system and apps in case u have to wipe. At least then u will restore everything exactly as it is now so its not a big pain at all.

Another thing could be where you got the download from. Pete was pretty specific as to where to download his rom. I ended up using ROM Manager to get his ROM. Followed Petes instructions to the T and all has been fine since the installation.

There are numerous ways to stop the OTA update. If the fresh install dud not work try this:

The best way is to simply edit your version number (credit GirLuvsDroid)
How do I prevent OTA updates? - Android Forums

And I know there is a way to stop the SystemUpdater.apk I think renaming SystemUpdater.apk.bak and restarting should probably work.

If you need more info Let me google that for you

I too was getting OTA update messages on .5- couldn't find any other mentions of it happening on .5 anywhere. I did the edit version number fix linked to in the post above about a week ago and havent had any more ota downloads since.

Just to make sure I understand you are being prompted to install the stock FRG22D update right? If so, you can just let the update try to install. What will happen is it will download the update, reboot into recovery to try to install and Clockwork or SPR will just block the install. You will then just boot up into Bugless Beast like normal and you won't be bugged to install it again.

I've never seen this happen on BB but I've seen it on other ROMs and the procedure is pretty much the same for all of them.

I tried that and it worked. But when I rebooted my phone again, the notification still popped up.
