So far I have been switching between roms using the update.zip method, but I would prefer wiping the system and doing a nandroid restore of the new rom in order to give it a clean phone to start on. The only problem is I don't want to lose all my system settings, random info etc.

So my question is: is there any app or anything that makes doing this easier, instead of having to use dropcap everytime and restoring all this information by hand?

I've done research into this but so far I haven't been able to find anything that really answers my question.

    Do it like this
    Backup everything in sprecovery
    Then do data/factory reset
Install new rom with system and boot, unless going to install smoked glass 4.1 then check recovery
After that is done restore only data from your backup

Even if you forget to restore data, you will get all apps back as long as u are using a gmail account.

I'm pretty sure if you are installing a 2.1 rom over a 2.0.1 rom you can't follow this precedure. You can backup all of your apps using astro and apps like mybackuppro back up all your data.

I'm not too interested in any of the 2.1 roms. I already have the gallery and most of the other benefits from 2.1, and besides BB is pretty damn sweet. Props to Pete for making a good, stable rom.

The way I do it is, sort of as outlined above, except:

I make a full backup. I copy my Data, Misc, and Cache files into the Nandroid/rom folder (smoked glass 4.1) then do a full restore with sp_recovery.

I boot up with all apps and settings preserved.
