I don't know if there is an app for this or not, but I'll put my suggestion forward.

The app would utilize text to speech to read text messages out loud, as well as use voice commands to "reply", "foreword", "call" etc. in addition to the speech-to-text capabilities of the Android phones.

It could also perhaps integrate with the music player to allow basic voice commands such as "play", "next", "back", "pause"

If such an app exists, could someone please point me to it? If not, it's just something to consider.

vlingo beta (i think its closed now) seems to work really well for saying "text mike: what time is the party?" and actually transcribing it perfectly in a quiet environment and really well in a louder environment

I just wish you could activate it without touching the phone (driving etc) from a bluetooth. I got the motorola h17TXT bluetooth and it reads your texts to you from the motospeak app but you can't reply to them. It does work well overall though as a earpiece and i'm listening to MLB at bat 2010 through it now

drivesafe.ly gives you limited voice command capability to work with a widget to turn on and off the app. Has TTS for email, texts, and who is calling you.

SayMyName tells you who is calling and from what type of phone (assuming you input the info into your contacts list correctly), and tells you who is calling.

I haven't used Vlingo for Android yet, but it was pretty slick on the iPhone. So far, the best one I've used on Android is Choice Dialer.
