Stock text notifications

K total newb question....running D2G on verizon rooted stock rom. I have TBU pro and have frozen some apps and bloatware. I am currently using Handscent for my texting and like this app quite well. My question is: How in the heck do I get the stock texting app to stop popping up on my screen and in my notification bar? I have searched this forum for this but have had no luck in finding an answer. Any help all you power users could provide an ole green guy would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if its the same on d2....d1 go into messaging hit menu,settings, untick notifications....gotta be close 2 the same
