Stock recovery red triangle

I'm stock unrooted and I wanted to clear cache via the stock recovery. I booted into it and I am greeted by a red triangle over an android figure and it won't go any farther than that. What's going on?

You need to press the power and up volume buttons at the same time.

No I do that and I get to recovery but there is that red triangle above the android and it won't go any farther than that

You use the power and up volume at the same time when you see the red triangle.
