Glad to see them update the look of that page as well Looks a lot better now. They have the Droid Rzr and Maxxx as being in line for a Q1 release which wouldn't surprise me if the D4 and Bionic are in line for Q2 release. But who knows right now as there is no other information to go by maybe they'll surprise us with a Q1 release as well.

Motorola has updated its upgrade news page, https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c. According to this, we are still in line for JB. It is just a matter of time.

Those of us who got the Bionic on day 1 are eligible for a new phone on May 8th. I'm either going with a Samsung S IV or the rumored Motorola X phone. Since the X is still rumored and Moto is notorius for delays, I'll probably end up with the Samsung. Guess I don't care a lot whether Bionic ever gets JB, and I'll bet it doesn't happen before I am eligible.

Oh my God, I NEED latest and greatest, I need the latest and greatest. It's just a stinkin' phone. Keep getting sucked up with upgrade craze, people. Holding out for JB to get the full potential out of this thing. It's still just a phone.

If it's just a stinkin phone, why not go back to a dumb phone then? I would venture a guess that many of us here are hooked on the technology and do need a fix every 20 months, about the time the technology stops keeping up with our appetites for faster processors, more memory, better screens, longer battery life, faster networks, and new features such as NFC. Don't be a Luddite troll, come on in and drink the koolaid!

JB isn't going magically unlock the full potential of this phone. There is no remaining potential, it is about out of gas (CPU and memory). I agree that it is still very usable. I guess I trolled this Bionic thread by mentioning I will likely go Samsung.

ICS unlocked this phone's potential IMO. I got mine in May last year free with a contract. Came off a DROID 1, so even on Gingerbread this phone was a heck of an upgrade for me (although I did love my og DROID). Even though it's aging, I do believe it still holds its own right now with the heavy hitters. I won't have an upgrade til may next year or so, but getting jelly bean will hold me over til then. ICS fixed the data drops and gave me 26+ hours of heavy use on my extended battery now that I've solved my drainage issues, so I'm content to wait.

Same thoughts here. Since by wife has the Note II, I may get the SGIV. Note II with quad core is very nice. I can only imagine what the performance of the SGIV will be like. Having said that, my Bionic with Eclipse ROM is running just fine, I don't feel the need to upgrade as badly now. I could hold out for the Note III.

The data all you can eat buffet deal that goes away, does not concern me. Been on the share plan and 6gb on three phones works for us. If I used as much data as the data hogs do, I wouldn't get any work done or have time to get laid. Get off the porn sites. Conserve you data use.
Priorities!!!!!! people.

My contract ends in October. I'll see what's available then and make the decision at that time.

As for the JB upgrade, it would certainly be nice to have a phone running the same OS version as my Nexus 7. is it an essential upgrade? No. But it shows that Motorola is committed to support. Since ICS, i do find that my Droid bionic is sometimes sluggish, but more often than not, it's due to some app that i recently installed to try out. After removing said app, I'm back to peppy.

Dont see us getting JB since most of the Bionic that were sold will come up for renewal May-July timeframe. Mine is 5/18. I will be buying one of the newer phones. My wife has the droid 3. We will update hers first. Hopefully an HD4 will be out by then since she likes a physical keyboard

They have already confirmed that the Bionic will be getting JB so this phone will def get it, now when it will be coming out is a different story. You might get it before your update you might not knowing how slow VZ is to approve stuff doesn't seem like a would make a difference for somebody who is going to update regardless. But in short JB is going to be released for this phone. Obviously the last update we will get (Most likely the same for phones like the D4, Rzr/MAXX) it is just a question of when they decided to get it out.

Soak tests emails for the Droid 4 started going out. No confirmation if it's JB but if it is, that's a great sign for us Bionic owners!
