SS4.5 Market stuck downloading updates to EVERYTHING

SS4.5 fresh install and an rstapps -c after.

    Everything was fine until today.

Going into Market/Downloads shows a whole bunch of apps "Downloading..." but they never actually download anything (no yellow in the progress bar).

Selecting the app brings up "Download error. Download was unsuccessful, please try again." I hit ok. I can now hit "cancel download". Sometimes it does, sometimes the vending app FCs.

I restored to a backup from 2010-07-26. Same behavior.

I do have "Automatically update" set on most of my apps...
    I have verified network connectivity...
I manually downloaded maps 4.4 and it installed perfectly (thereby verifying network connectivity, market connection, and ability to install)

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

If your SD card has around 12gig, try and remove as much as you can. Was a problem for me.

I just couldn't get some of them to "cancel download." The ones that are definitely non-resident would show the error, then allow me to cancel download.

The ones that are resident (widgets, atk, etc.) would not show the error, but when i hit 'cancel download' the vending app would FC.

    1. Wiped (again)
    2. Reinstall from scratch SS4.5
2.5 Market. Is not trying to update stuff! Update maps to 4.4. Works fine!
    3. fixpd
    4. restore camera and gallery shortcuts (the ones on desktops were invalid)
    5. restore widgets

We'll see if there's anything else. I wish I knew what corrupted it.
    PERHAPS RELATED:
    1. I had replaced sh with bash
    2. I had linked some commands (df, ls, etc.) to busybox instead of toolbox

Changing those things can DEFINITELY cause issues ... many times apps are programmed to parse the output; busybox will have different output than toolbox, etc

This was also happening to me. I was patient and finally got the apps to update but it was definitely not as fast as before flashing from stock 2.1.

Last night I updated the baseband and the updates today downloaded immediately. Not sure if that fixed the problem or just a coincidence but perhaps worth trying.

Can you long press where it says Downloading... and then cancel from there?

Yes, except I had already hit [CLEAR] on some notices. Those I could not cancel. There were about 15 of those ;)

Same problems. I turned off automatic updating ( :( ), and i can't let the droid screen turn off while downloading and everything is OK.

Also, I have an app or two that had this issue, and now I can't download them at all through the market and the market FC's when I open these apps. Weird.
