When configuring my IMAP/SMTP account in the android e-mail client, I am able to use TLS (accept all) for IMAP; using the same SSL certificate on the server side, I am unable to configure TLS (accept all) for SMTP. It claims my server does not support TLS when, in fact, it does. Furthermore, this has worked with most previous versions of the android e-mail client including but not limited to the version included with GPA14.

    Thoughts?

To be honest I know very little about setting that up - I CAN tell you though that the email.apk in SS comes from CM - so you COULD try pulling email.apk from gpa14 and see if it works ...

Hmm, it doesnt seem to be the email.apk itself... I just backed up yours from SS5.2 and pushed the Email.apk from GPA14DEODEXED.ZIP into /system/app and I still get the same 'Server does not support TLS' error... But I just tested to verify that TLS is supported by using Thunderbird on my RHEL desktop (I know, I'm a glutton for punishment) and it's working fine.

I'm not at all familiar with how SSL/TLS works with Android; I assume there's some type of SSL/TLS 'provider' that's baked into the system? Perhaps it's throwing the error? Is there any way I could get you additional debugging information from my Droid?

Randall, if you turn logging on in my tools and reboot - then you can run 'adb logcat' and force the issue - the logcat should dump out what it's doing ...

Nothin' useful in adb logcat regarding this... Bolded seems relevant, but expected... I guess I need to debug the SSLCertificateSocketFactory?

    Boo Hoo :(

    EDIT - scratch that...

It looks like this works over 3G, but I can't use STARTTLS over wifi... I need to discss with my network admins to see if they are doing deep packet inspection on outbound smtp through the guest wireless to disallow STARTTLS.
