Spell check magically gone, battery blows out fast... but nothing changed.

Droid 2 Global - Verizon. No roots, hacks or otherwise. All stock.

Phone recently woke up one morning and decided to not have spell check work for any text, email account, etc. If I go thru setting and turn all spelling items off then back on with re-boots, it sometimes works for an hour or so... maybe.

Also, battery goes really fast now. GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth all off. Phone even burns battery in battery saver mode. I have not added any apps in months. I reboot regularly.

Any ideas?

Rooting and installing hexen is what I would do. Also get swype out some other keyboard.

Sounds like it is time to perform a hard reset...

Don't let people discourage you by telling you that something is configured wrong.

The exact same thing has happened to me. I would get great battery life, we're talking a couple hours for every 10% battery. Then out of nowhere, I barely can pull 12 hours with the extended battery.

There's definitely something going on here, and I'm pretty sure it's software based. I'm hoping Gingerbread or a different ROM will fix it.

i fixed the spell check.....

Anyways, I figured out that I had set text style to swipe by holding the text field until input method pops up, then clicked on it, and switched back to the keyboard mode.
